Hello friends,
It took me a little digging into the past to find the picture with which I wanted to open this newsletter with and I'm so happy I did...this was the very first picture I took on our opening day last year (July 5, 2019). There's Ella and Joanna in the process of putting out all the pastries into the case, and then there's my dear friend and mentor, Jeff, who was our very first customer of the day. I remember being so nervous and exhausted that morning from all the work we had done for months-on-end to get the shop ready for opening. As soon as people started trickling in and enjoying our pastries and being excited for us as well as with us, this huge sense of relief and joy just overtook us. We had done it!
No one would have guessed that our first year would unfold the way it has...we spent so much time trying to work through our inexperience of running a full time bakeshop and then when we finally thought we had figured some things out, the pandemic hit all of us and we went back to starting from "scratch". I think we did okay considering the circumstances and if there ever was a time a small group of people put all their energies together to scrape through challenging times, this has been it. I'm so proud and in awe of my team here at C&C...they simply are amazing.
Turns out the timing of our region moving into Phase IV (i.e. indoor dining) is pretty serendipitous because our REOPENING falls on just the same time as our first opening. We are excited to start welcoming you all back into the bakeshop this coming Thursday, July 2nd! There will be social distancing guidelines in place with tables/chairs moved apart inside the shop. We will make sure to have everything cleaned and sanitized frequently and we'll also be requiring face masks of all patrons as well as staff (please respect this health dept rule!) Moving forward, these will be the days and hours we're open:
TUE / WED / THU - 7:00am - 3:00pm
FRI - 7:00am - 8:00pm
SAT - 8:00am - 2:00pm
SUN / MON - Closed
Other than the reopening day, we're even more excited to share a birthday with America as we plan to dedicate this Saturday to the celebration of our first anniversary. We are planning a huge selection of pastries, croissants, pies, tarts, bread, and other treats for this day. Breakfast will be back in full swing with our made-to-order croissant sandwiches, avocado toast made with our sourdough bread, and quiches by the slice. We'll have free birthday cake slices for all our guests and are planning some fun giveaways. And if you display some extra love by wearing your C&C gear for the visit, whether it's a T-shirt or tote bag, you'll get a 10% appreciation discount off your whole purchase. I hope you will join in the fun and kick off your July 4th celebrations with us this Saturday!
I completely understand that not everyone feels 100% safe about going out to public places yet and so we definitely will to continue our website pre-ordered curbside pickups for your convenience. Due to a space shortage in our kitchen though, we won't be taking pre-orders this week since we can't fit everything into our coolers. I'll post the menu on our website/social media for the week on Thursday morning so that folks can call and order over the phone. Please feel free to make your selection off the menu and wait outside while we package and bring it out curbside.
With all that said, let me just add one more time that we CANNOT wait to see you soon!
