This week was a period of adjustment for us at the bakery as the start of the school year has thrown in a curveball to our normal production schedule. My daughter started 5th grade, Devin is onto his last semester of classes, and I'm back at Rockford University trying to finish my MBA. Even though life has become a bit more hectic now, it's so great to be back at school because my fellow classmates and all my professors as well as the staff at the grad program are so incredibly supportive of our venture. Their collective knowledge, advice, and insight really help us to become the best we can be as we forge ahead. C&C is certainly in its infancy right now, and you know what they say - it takes a village!
Speaking of village, we are excited to be partnering with another group of awesome people as the plans for our Blind Date With A Baker (CSB program) move forward. The final pick-up spots have been confirmed and are geographically located to make the process as convenient for everyone as possible. West side will be covered by London Avenue Designs, East siders will be able to pick up at Artale & Co., and our friends at Pig Minds Brewing Co. will be our host to the north. We are now working on introducing an e-commerce feature to our site so you can sign up for the breadshares online. Sign-ups will start at the market booths in September also!
On the menu this weekend, we will have Country White Sourdough, Cranberry & Walnut, JalapeΓ±o Cheddar, Seven Seed Whole Wheat, Baker & Brewer as well as Olive Oil Semolina loaves. The "Everything Bagel" Bread loaves were a hit last week and all sold out within an hour into the markets starting. We made sure to bring extras this week...especially because we felt so bad that the one customer who has been asking us to come up with this flavor was left without one! Hopefully everyone walks away from the booth happy this time.
